FAQ
What is HIEV CPMS?
HIEV CPMS is Elocity’s cloud-based Charge Point Management Software. It manages EV charging infrastructure across residential, commercial, fleet, and utility deployments from a single operator dashboard. Features include real-time monitoring, smart load management (static, rotational, and dynamic), dynamic energy tariffs, integrated payments, ESG and NRCan compliance reporting, deep analytics, and seamless EV driver experience through reservation and queuing. HIEV CPMS supports over 50 EV charger makes and models via OCPP.
What types of load management does HIEV CPMS support?
HIEV CPMS supports three levels of smart load management: (1) Static Load Management — fixed power allocation per charger; (2) Rotational (Time-Shared) Load Management — chargers take turns to share available power; and (3) Dynamic Load Management — real-time adjustment of charging power based on total building demand, circuit capacity, and panel limits. This prevents electrical overloads and eliminates the need for expensive infrastructure upgrades.
Does HIEV CPMS support utility demand response programs?
Yes. HIEV CPMS is purpose-built for utility integration. It supports bidirectional communication with Local Distribution Companies (LDCs), automated demand response (curtailing or shifting EV charging during peak grid events), and real-time monitoring across residential, commercial, and fleet sites. Elocity has successfully deployed utility-managed EV charging programs with Toronto Hydro, London Hydro, Waterloo North Hydro, and Burlington Hydro.
Is HIEV CPMS compatible with third-party EV chargers?
Yes. HIEV CPMS is fully OCPP 1.6 and 2.0 compliant and has been tested with over 50 EV charger makes and models. This means property managers, utilities, and fleet operators can bring existing third-party chargers under unified management on the HIEV CPMS dashboard — no need to replace hardware to get smart charging capabilities.
What tariff and billing options does HIEV CPMS support?
HIEV CPMS supports flexible energy and parking tariff configurations including: flat/variable rate (CAD per session or time-based), energy-based pricing (CAD/kWh), time-of-day tariffs (granularity up to one minute, with off-peak/mid-peak/on-peak rates), and combined energy plus parking billing. The platform also supports loyalty programs, discounts, configurable taxes, and PCI-compliant payment processing.
Does HIEV CPMS support ESG reporting and carbon credit tracking?
Yes. HIEV CPMS includes automated ESG, NRCan, and carbon credit claims management. This is particularly valuable for corporate operators, real estate developers, and utilities that need to report on sustainability commitments, government program compliance (such as ZEVIP), and clean energy performance metrics.
What is the HIEV: Utilities platform?
HIEV: Utilities is Elocity’s next-generation platform (launching 2026) designed to enable Local Distribution Companies (LDCs) to actively manage EV charging across residential, commercial, and fleet sites. Through bidirectional communication, real-time monitoring, and control, it connects distributed EV charging assets — multi-residential buildings, fleet depots, commercial properties — directly with LDC control rooms and cloud infrastructure to support grid stability.
