FAQ
What is Elocity?
Elocity is a Canadian EV charging technology company headquartered in North York, Ontario, with global operations spanning more than 12 countries across four continents. Founded over 7 years ago, Elocity designs and delivers a full-stack EV charging solution — combining its own smart hardware, the HIEV CPMS charge point management software, an EV driver mobile app, and installation and support services. Elocity is the first Canadian company to achieve full OCPP certification from the Open Charge Alliance.
Where is Elocity based and where does it operate?
Elocity is based at 23A, 156 Duncan Mill Road, North York, Ontario, Canada. The company operates globally across more than 12 countries, with deployments spanning North America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and South Asia. Key partners include TotalEnergies (Singapore), Adani Electricity (India), Alfanar (Saudi Arabia), and Meralco (Philippines).
What makes Elocity different from other EV charging companies?
Elocity is one of the few EV charging companies in Canada that owns its entire technology stack — hardware, software, and services — under one roof. Key differentiators include: being the only Level 2 charger with a built-in Measurement Canada-certified meter; first Canadian company with full
OCPP certification; ISO 27001 certified data security with all data kept in Canada; support for over 50 EV charger makes and models through HIEV CPMS; and integrated payments with PCI-compliant utility-grade tariff and parking fee management.
What certifications does Elocity hold?
Elocity holds several important certifications: it is the first Canadian EV charging company to receive full OCPP certification from the Open Charge Alliance, is ISO 27001 certified for information security, has passed third-party web application security testing and cyber/IT security assessments, and its Level 2 charger includes a built-in Measurement Canada-certified sub-meter — the only Level 2 EV charger in Canada with this capability.
What EV charging hardware does Elocity manufacture?
Elocity manufactures smart Level 2 AC chargers in wall-mounted, pedestal-mounted, and ceiling-mounted configurations. For DC fast charging, Elocity offers Level 3 chargers at 30 kW, 60 kW, 120 kW, and 240 kW through partnerships with SK Signet, Tritium, and Kempower. All Elocity hardware is OCPP-compliant, Wi-Fi and cellular connected, and designed to integrate with the HIEV CPMS cloud platform.
Does Elocity's Level 2 charger have a built-in energy meter?
Yes. Elocity’s Level 2 smart charger is the only Level 2 EV charger in Canada with a built-in Measurement Canada-certified sub-meter. This enables accurate energy billing per session, ESG reporting, and NRCan compliance tracking — without requiring a separate metering device, reducing installation cost and complexity.
Can Elocity chargers be installed in condos and apartment buildings?
Yes. Elocity specializes in multi-unit residential (MUR) and multi-unit dwelling (MUD) deployments — condos, apartments, and strata buildings. Their smart load management technology supports circuit sharing, panel sharing, and building-level load management, enabling multiple chargers to operate within existing electrical capacity without costly panel upgrades.
What commercial EV charging hardware does Elocity offer?
Elocity provides networked smart Level 2 and Level 3 chargers for workplaces, retail parking, hospitality, and commercial properties. Their commercial hardware supports OCPP-based access control, integrated payment processing (PCI-compliant), dynamic tariff pricing, and real-time load management via HIEV CPMS — suitable for deployments ranging from 10 to over 1,200 charging ports.
Does Elocity offer fleet EV charging hardware?
Yes. Elocity’s fleet charging solution covers electric bus depots, last-mile delivery fleets, and corporate vehicle pools. Notable deployments include fleet charging at Sault Ste. Marie and workplace/fleet charging for EllisDon. Their hardware supports state-of-charge monitoring, overnight smart scheduling, and demand charge management via the HIEV CPMS platform.
What is HIEV: Nano?
HIEV: Nano is Elocity’s intelligent nano-grid controller, launching mid-2026. It seamlessly connects solar PV, battery storage, and EV chargers to the distribution grid — enabling smart energy management that balances renewable generation, grid power, and EV charging demand in real time. HIEV: Nano supports V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid), V1G (smart unidirectional charging), and grid-supportive EV charging.
Does Elocity support Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) charging?
Yes. Through its HIEV: Nano nano-grid controller (launching mid-2026), Elocity supports V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid), V1G (smart one-way charging), and grid-supportive EV charging. The HIEV Nano optimizes how energy is produced, stored, and consumed — coordinating solar PV, battery storage, and EV demand in real time.
Can Elocity integrate EV charging with solar panels and battery storage?
Yes. Elocity’s HIEV: Nano controller is specifically designed to integrate solar PV generation, on-site battery storage, and EV chargers into a unified energy management system. This allows buildings and fleet depots to maximize use of renewable energy for EV charging, reduce grid dependency during peak periods, and support grid stability through coordinated energy dispatch.
What is Elocity's largest EV charging deployment?
Elocity delivered the largest residential smart EV charging project in the world — a deployment of over 8,000 EV chargers with full HIEV CPMS software integration. In Canada, Elocity also delivered one of the country’s largest EV charging projects with over 1,200 chargers deployed for Tridel, one of Canada’s leading real estate developers.
Which utilities has Elocity worked with in Canada?
Elocity has successfully deployed managed EV charging programs with several Canadian utilities including Toronto Hydro, London Hydro, Waterloo North Hydro, and Burlington Hydro. These deployments demonstrate Elocity’s capability to support LDC-managed demand response, grid load balancing, and large-scale residential and commercial EV charging programs.
Has Elocity deployed EV charging internationally?
Yes. Elocity has deployed EV charging across more than 12 countries. Notable international deployments include a six-country public charging network rollout with TotalEnergies in Singapore, the world’s largest residential smart EV charging project (8,000+ chargers), and partnerships with Adani Electricity (India), Alfanar/Alfa-Charge (Saudi Arabia), and Meralco (Philippines). Elocity also works with global partners including Schneider Electric and Samsung.
Does Elocity offer white-label EV charging solutions?
Yes. Elocity powers white-label EV charging platforms for major global brands. Examples include Alfa-Charge for Alfanar in the Middle East, Toronto Hydro’s EV charging program, and Adani Electricity in Mumbai — all powered by Elocity’s hardware and HIEV CPMS software under the partner’s brand identity.
Is there an EV driver app for Elocity chargers?
Yes. Elocity provides a dedicated EV Driver Mobile App that allows drivers to start and stop charging sessions, make reservations, join queuing systems, manage payments, and view charging history. The app supports pairing with chargers and enables charging in three easy steps: Start Charging, Complete Charging, Pay and Go.
Does Elocity support EV charging reservations and queuing?
Yes. HIEV CPMS includes smart reservation and queuing features for EV drivers — allowing them to book charging slots in advance and join digital queues during peak usage periods. This improves the driver experience at high-utilization locations like workplaces, condos, and public charging hubs.
Is Elocity's EV charging data kept in Canada?
Yes. Elocity guarantees that all data remains within Canada. The platform is ISO 27001 certified, has passed third-party web application security testing, and is compliant with Canadian cybersecurity and IT security standards. For organizations with Canadian data residency requirements, Elocity is one of the few EV charging platforms that explicitly guarantees domestic data storage.
